I’ve been dabbling a bit in freelance web development lately - both front-end and back-end. It’s something that I really love to do, but I don’t have time to do it all that often. But this past semester at school, something happened to make me appreciate all of the nice clients that I’ve met out there.
For one of my classes we ended up doing a project with a local business, and part of that project was web development. I ended up having to do pretty much that entire portion of our project virtually alone. It was a lot bigger than any class project should be, and I ended up coding them an entirely customized php/mysql back-end.
I’ve done back-ends for other clients before, and they ranged anywhere from $200-$500 for JUST the back-end (no front-end content except for integration codes). And I just gave these people their back-end for FREE. And I want to cry now.

You might be able to expect a little downtime / a wordpress reinstall coming up here in the near future. I’m thinking about investing in a reseller hosting plan so that I can manage all of my domains from their own CPanel. I’m currently looking into which company I should go with since my current hosting company charges a little more than I would like to pay.
Once I get the reseller plan, I’m going to be switching things around on my domain, and re-purposing some of the names. PyroWinter is going to be a portfolio, while my new domain that I’m getting is going to be my new personal blog. Hopefully I’ll be able to get all of this done fairly quickly and I won’t have any problems. But I still need to figure out what company I’m going to be going with.

I always said that I would bring this blog back some day when I had more time to write, and now I do. So there’s really no time like the present.
It’s the same old drill though. I’m going to be sharing my geeky thoughts and ideas here, and my personal blog PyroWinter will continue to be used for my everyday ramblings.
Stay tuned, because the geekiness has just begun!
